ClearCurve, launched in 2007, is the bend-insensitive optical fiber that made fiber-to-the-home a global reality; its inventors were inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame, and its design philosophy was radical: do not fight the substrate  re-engineer the boundary so the light cannot escape, no matter how sharply the fiber bends.

He went on to drive Corning's first global platform cost-reduction initiative from Hickory, North Carolina, consolidating thousands of fiber-optic hardware products worldwide into two major platforms, cutting costs by more than twenty percent, and coaching the project managers who ran three concurrent teams.

Trained in Materials Engineering with a Ceramics concentration at NC State University, Percil Watkins speaks the language of condensed materials science, defect density, thermal processing, and manufacturing yield.
